We decorated our Christmas tree last week. This is our first holiday season as parents, and we’ve had so many emotions. To welcome her into our family, we made her a photo ornament to hang on the tree. Of course, it is hanging front and center.

One of the ways we have honored our losses is by making ornaments. My mother made one for us as well, and it hangs not far from our daughter’s ornament. My pregnancy losses will always be part of our story. They make up who we are - an integral part of our identity. Those ornaments will always hang on our tree.

After a pregnancy loss, it can feel like our entire lives become our losses. A lot of that is due to the medical process of going through a pregnancy loss. But, of course, emotionally, our lives can feel on hold.
