Brackish water, or the river delta, is a natural phenomenon when the river meets the ocean. Brackish water is more saline than freshwater, but less saline than the ocean. In this space, it is difficult and beautiful. It is lush, and full of growth. Today, as we near the end of our 14-day journey, we are standing at our own river delta. We have become aware of difficult thoughts and feelings. Capturing these thoughts and feelings will allow us to grow and become vibrant. It will allow us to recognize our hurt when we interact with others, and learn how to advocate for more of what we need.
Do you remember the thoughts we wrote down on Day 2? The unedited, unfiltered, harsh words we captured? I want you to go back and read that again.
Now, rewrite those thoughts. What are you thinking now? What has changed about the way you speak to yourself? Are you speaking with more self-compassion and kindness? Can you use this new way of speaking to yourself to speak with others?
Take time doing this today. This is a challenging exercise, but a very important one. It’s the exercise where you’ve put everything we’ve learned into action. Tomorrow, in our final exercise, we are going to take our new, kinder, more self-compassionate thoughts, and apply it one last time to the people we encounter on our pregnancy loss journey.
